😬 So… Yeah. I Can Tell When Experts Use AI for Commentary
Plus, a list of earned media opps as Feb story assignments roll in!
Is anyone else in shock at the fact that we have another entire week of January still left? This feels like the slowest, most bizarre start to the New Year and I’m ready to bring in February with some new energy. Speaking of energy… I spent the weekend in Sedona with good friends of mine (who I’ve known for ~20 years) and it was probably the most Sedona weekend I’ve ever had! We did the beautiful Cathedral Rock hike (where my husband proposed 5 years ago to the month), did a 90-minute sweat, and had our auras read. It’s hilarious to me that we also punctuated the day with giant plates of nachos.
Anyway, next week I’ll be in New York for Fashion Week from 2/5 through 2/12 (hit me up!) and then Valentine’s weekend I’ll be in Vegas. Would love to connect with anyone in these areas! :)

So… Yeah. I Can Tell When Experts Use AI for Commentary
Plus, a lesson in creating amazing, quotable commentary.
I’m not going to beat around the digital bush here—we’re obviously living in a brand new era of AI and it only makes sense to embrace the technology at this point. I have so much to say about the topic, and I’ll cover more in upcoming newsletters, but today I want to focus on the difference between using AI to enhance your work and using AI to cut corners. Bottom line: I can 100% tell when an expert uses AI to write their commentary for them—and it’s a problem. This has become a recurring issue, and I cannot use the commentary in my pieces.
So how can I tell? As a professional writer who’s literally been crafting sentences since my pale pink, lockable diary days in grade school—and as someone who leverages AI for my own ideation and work—it’s SO obvious.
Here are the clear signs I look for (and tips for creating commentary that’ll ensure you’re quoted):
